The Guest Editor for this edition is Susan Stevens, BSW, MEd, RSW, CHE, EXTRA Fellow, who is a retired health leader, adult educator, and adjunct professor in the Department of Aging and Family Science at Mount Saint Vincent University. She is also the owner of Wyndrock Hill Consulting and a member of the Editorial Board for HMF.

Monica Augustyniak, MPH

Read the blog written by AXDEV Group (lead author Monica Augustyniak, MPH) as they discuss research conducted on point-of-care tests and how health leaders can use this work to evaluate and plan for organizational change. Twenty-four interviews across three Canadian provinces assessed the facilitators and barriers to implementing these tests in an inpatient hospital setting. Among other results, the findings indicate that hospitals could benefit from recruiting information technology expertise to connect existing systems and clinical workflows with point-of-care testing; standardized protocols at the national and organizational level help to facilitate system integration; and there is a need to develop a supportive relationship between point-of-care testing supervisors and end-users to reduce the risk of negative outcomes.
